Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Responds To The Gillette Ad Controversy

If you’ve been following the Gillette ad controversy this week, you know it’s a very dumb “controversy.” The razor company’s latest ad campaign “The Best A Man Can Be” rankled touchy conservative men who don’t like being told not to objectify women.

Some angry right-wing men promised to boycott and some of them, not understanding what a boycott is, tried to dispose of razors they had already purchased in truly stupid ways. Plenty of celebrities and politicians chimed in to support the company and now freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has added her voice to theirs.

Democratic Socialist superstar Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted in support of Gillette’s latest anti-misogynist ad campaign and didn’t miss a chance to get a dig in at her right-wing critics:

Her fans were totally here for it, tweeting their support for AOC:

In other AOC news, the freshman representative gave her first speech on the House floor this week and it quickly became C-SPAN’s most-watched clip:

In the speech Ocasio-Cortez told the story of one of her constituents, an immigrant from Yemen and air traffic controller supervisor out of JFK, who’s been working without pay thanks to Trump’s shutdown. AOC highlighted how stressful her constituent’s job was already and that financial troubles weren’t helping the situation.

“It is terrifying to think that almost every single air traffic controller in the United States is currently distracted at work because they don’t when their next paycheck is coming.”

Amen, sis.
