Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Says Congress Shouldn’t Be Paid During Shutdowns

Incoming congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has a talent for speaking clearly and forcefully which tends to have the effect of inspiring progressives and enraging conservatives at the same time.

The fact that she hasn’t been sworn in yet hasn’t stopped Ocasio-Cortez from weighing in on the most pressing issues of the day and the current government shutdown that our useless leaders have allowed to overshadow the holidays was no exception.

In a tweet on Saturday, Ocasio-Cortez proposed the bold and extremely logical idea that when the government grinds to halt the people who broke the dang thing should not be getting paid for their incompetence.

Ocasio-Cortez suggested that, like hundreds of thousands of other federal employees, members of Congress should be furloughed, not paid.

The tweet spread like wildfire, a wildfire of raucous agreement.

Many appreciated Ocasio-Cortez’s willingness to stand up to her fellow congresspeople and to put her own salary on the line.

People appreciated AOC speaking truth to power and not avoiding responsibility like…certain Presidents.

Even some of her critics were nodding their heads in agreement.

Some naysayers limply objected to the totally unobjectionable idea.

But their disingenuous critiques were quickly shut down by the congresswoman herself.

Well said, Congresswoman. Now please tell the evil goblins who broke our government to get back to work.
