Conservatives are A) completely obsessed with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and B) not always too great at Twitter. Which is how it came to pass that Sinclair Broadcast Group’s Chief Political Analyst Boris Epshteyn ended up trying to argue with an AOC parody account on Monday.
Progressive activist Jordan Uhl tweeted out some screenshots of the interaction.
First, an account called @AOCpress tweeted “PRESS RELEASE: We will not stay silent on this reckless move by President Trump pulling out of the IMDb treaty with Russia.”
Well, Epshteyn saw that and just knew he had to respond, not realizing that such an inane statement probably would not come from Ocasio-Cortez herself.
He quote-tweeted the AOCpress tweet, and wrote, “1. Dems messaging on Russia continues to be confused. One minute they scream that president is Russia’s puppet the next they don’t want the president to be tough on Russia 2. You mean INF? IMDb is the movie database that you seem to so desperately want to have a big profile on.”
I don’t think it’s the Dems messaging on Russia that’s confused, I think it’s just Epshteyn himself.
Uhl included the bio of the parody account, which very clearly says “parody.” I mean, you cannot miss it. Unless, of course, you’re Boris Epshteyn.
Then Ocasio-Cortez (the real one, this time) tweeted to point out Epshteyn’s error.
The right is so eager to smear that they end up tripping over the own wires all the time.— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) February 11, 2019
Here, the Chief Political Analyist for Sinclair Broadcasting earnestly cites a *parody account* as supporting evidence for his bogus argument.
Misinformation spreads like this regularly. https://t.co/dzNBEkzJOd
Quote-tweeting Uhl’s screenshots tweet, she wrote,

AOC must be getting pretty used to having misinformation spread about her, like when people claim that she has a 430 credit score and several evictions in her past. None of that has ever been proven, and there doesn’t seem to be any actual source for that information at all.
People on Twitter reveled in Epshteyn’s dumb mistake.
Troubling news out of Sinclair, Boris Epshteyn can’t go on air today. He’s currently stuck in some sort of trap and has called the paramedics for assistance. pic.twitter.com/FdaO1GaPKp

the liberal media is outraged that I argue with parody accounts but I am right to do so pic.twitter.com/PiR6gHzFHe

Better luck next time, Epshteyn.
