AOC Dunks On Trump After He Tweets About ‘The New York Times’

President Donald Trump often expresses his opinion that the media is the enemy of the people. It’s a dangerous thing for a president to say, but he’s well aware of that—it’s the reason he does it. He’s trying to discredit the media so that his followers will believe that anything he says is fake, is fake. On Wednesday morning, Trump went on a real rampage against the press on Twitter. He tweeted, “The Press has never been more dishonest than it is today. Stories are written that have absolutely no basis in fact. The writers don’t even call asking for verification. They are totally out of control. Sadly, I kept many of them in business. In six years, they all go BUST!”

He also went after The New York Times directly, writing, “The New York Times reporting is false. They are a true ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE!”

Today’s tweet tantrum was brought on by a Times article titled, “Intimidation, Pressure and Humiliation: Inside Trump’s Two-Year War on the Investigations Encircling Him.”

Just because we’re used to hearing his campaign against the media doesn’t mean we should ever let it become normalized.

On Twitter, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) included a screengrab of Trump’s tweet against the Times and wrote, “While the right keeps screeching on calling everything ‘socialism’ (as nations w/ univ healthcare + better work standards enjoy better health & work life than Americans), they happily cheer on an authoritarian President & defend the destruction of American Democracy.”

You can almost hear the applause coming from the internet.

Of course, Ocasio-Cortez’s mentions were a mess, filled with strangers arguing.

Ocasio-Cortez wasn’t alone in railing against the president.

Yup, that last one pretty much sums it up!
