Another day another AOC slay.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made headlines again on Monday for an interview she did with [ ] Anderson Cooper in which Cooper asked the freshly minted Congresswoman from New York how she would pay for her various proposals.
Ocasio-Cortez responded with barely concealed frustration, pointing out the glaring double standard at play:
“No one asks how we’re going to pay for the Space Force. No one asks how we pay for a 2 trillion dollar tax cut. We only ask how we pay for it on issues of housing, healthcare, and education.”
Anderson Cooper: “How are you going to pay for all of this?”
AOC: “No one asks how we’re going to pay for the Space Force. No one asked how we paid for a $2 trillion tax cut. We only ask how we pay for it on issues of housing, healthcare and education.”

AOC went on to explain that the United States can pay for services that benefit the majority of its citizens the same way it pays for the military and everything else, with taxes.
Ocasio-Cortez has proposed a marginal tax rate of 70% on the richest Americans, a number that sounds alarmingly high to some (particularly those who don’t understand that only income above a certain threshold is taxed at that rate) but is actually very historically average, whereas the current tax rate is among the lowest in history.
70% tax rates on the very rich would help pay for the #GreenNewDeal to combat climate change, @AOC told Anderson Cooper: “Only radicals have changed this country.” https://t.co/MWDhzh4hTr pic.twitter.com/NTuaJ38cbC

Historical marginal tax rate levels in the United States. The rise in the 1930s was part of the New Deal. During Eisenhower era the top income bracket was taxed at 90%. Muh radicalism pic.twitter.com/KcYgjECOLE

In the same interview, Ocasio-Cortez also didn’t hesitate when Cooper asked her whether she thought Donald Trump was a racist.

Ocasio-Cortez’s growing legion of admirers were in full voice in their support of the Congresswoman.
This interview shows why the GOP is wetting themselves in fear over AOC. https://t.co/5RcqmsmGME
