Can You Spot Why People Are Mocking This ‘Women For Kavanaugh’ Bus Photo?

After being credibly accused of sexual assault by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court looks increasingly in danger. Republicans are currently scrambling to find a way to defend Kavanaugh while slinging mud at his accuser. Because they’re very bad at defending the indefensible, they keep humiliating themselves.

The public relations rollout to make Brett Kavanaugh the fifth vote on the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade involved plenty of pandering to women. There were op-eds about how he was a mentor to female clerks, several mentions of his daughters, and even a photo-friendly visit to Judiciary Committee hearings by the girls’ basketball team he coached. All of that got tossed away when Christine Blasey Ford came forward to accuse the judge of a heinous sexual assault when they were both in their teens.

Not to be outdone, the ultra-conservative political activist group Concerned Women for America (who ironically want to “bring Biblical principles into all levels of public policy”) unveiled their secret weapon—a bus with Kavanaugh’s goofy face plastered alongside “WOMEN FOR KAVANAUGH.”

But they seemed to have a bit of a recruiting issue. Take a look a picture of the “Women For Kavanaugh” crew and see if anything stands out.

That’s right, much like the Republican Party itself, the group is dominated by white dudes.

They somehow managed to stage a “Women For Kavanaugh” photo with more men than women.

Naturally, there were plenty of jokes.

Meanwhile, Christine Blasey Ford is in negotiations with the Judiciary Committee to schedule a time for her to testify next week. Brett Kavanaugh will appear for another hearing on Monday, and it seems he’ll be accompanied by at least six female supporters.
