Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Responds To Tomi Lahren Picking A Fight With Cardi B On Twitter

Over a month into the longest federal government shutdown in American history, and things are getting weird.

If you consider Twitter beef between rapper Cardi B and Fox News commentator Tomi Lahren weird, that is.

The two came to blows after the latter tweeted a dig at Democrats over the rapper’s comments concerning the ongoing government shutdown. Cardi’s viral Instagram post was an expletive-laden video directed at Donald Trump over his administration’s ordering of furloughed employees to work without pay.

The rapper’s conclusion that “our country is in a hellhole right now,” caught the attention of Lahren who tweeted at her: “Looks like @iamcardib is the latest genius political mind to endorse the Democrats. HA! Keep it up, guys! #MAGA2020”

Not one to let an insult go unaddressed, Cardi responded:

“Leave me alone I will dog walk you,” replied the rapper.

Lahren responded again.

“I’m sure you would. Still doesn’t make your political rambling any less moronic. #BuildthatWall,” she wrote back.

The back-and-forth continued.

“You’re so blinded with racism that you don’t even realize the decisions the president you root for is destroying the country you claim to love so much .You are a perfect example on no matter how educated or smart you think you are you still a SHEEP!” Cardi tweeted.

A tax policy discussion of sorts ensued after Cardi replied to someone on Twitter to lament that her tax dollars are going towards the border wall.

Lahren retweeted Cardi’s response, adding how Democrats are the party of high taxes.

The Twitter feud prompted others to weight in, including Congresswoman and political clapback queen Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

“Why do people think they can mess with Bronx women without getting roasted?” wrote Ocasio-Cortez. “They act as though our borough hasn’t been perfecting the clapback game since the Sugarhill Gang y’all just found it on Twitter,” she wrote.

Cardi went on Instagram Live on Sunday to explain that she’s “so tired of people insulting me.”

“A lot of people think I’m dumb, think I’m ghetto because of the way I talk…but just because I’m that it doesn’t make me dumb and one thing I really want y’all to understand about me, I’m a very passionate person when it comes to history and when it comes to political things, and I always been like that,” Cardi said.

“It just really gets me upset when people say, ‘Oh you doin’ this s**t, you’re dumb, you shouldn’t be talking about this s**t’… This is a passion that I have,” she said, adding how she took AP history in high school and has spent much of her free time researching world history.

While it is unclear why Lahren chose to pick a fight with Cardi of all people, the rapper’s vocalism when it comes to politics is nothing new. She explained in an interview with GQ last year how she loves political science and is “obsessed” with how government works.
