A disturbing video of Florida shooter Nikolas Cruz using his backyard for target practice has emerged. In it, the 19-year-old is seen shirtless, wearing a ‘Make America Great Again’ cap and firing off rounds from what appears to be a BB gun before securing it in his waistband and walking back inside.
The cell phone video, reportedly recorded by a neighbor in October of last year, was first obtained by CNN on Thursday. A reporter for the news network said the sound of the weapon categorizes it as a BB gun and also revealed he had spoken to “someone who lived close to [Cruz]” (a neighbor, says TMZ) who claimed police had been called to the shooters’ home “a number of times for strange or sometimes violent behavior.”
According to one report currently circulating the web, officers were called to the home a total of 39 times, says TMZ. “Kids in the neighborhood are saying Cruz was unhinged, was violent toward animals and would fly off the handle for no apparent reason,” they added.
This video coupled with the multiple police reports indicating Cruz’ violent behavior serve to further embarrass authorities, who had multiple warnings and ample time to have stopped Cruz before he was able to mow down 31 people at Stoneman Douglas high school in Parkland, Florida last Wednesday.
Many are now reporting on the fact that the FBI failed to adequately investigate a YouTube user with the same name as the shooter who had boasted about his plans to shoot up a school in a YT comment last September. BuzzFeed News was the first to report YouTube user ‘Nikolas Cruz’ left a comment on a video reading “I’m going to be a professional school shooter.”
