Welcome to America, where we post memes on the weekends to have a laugh and a good time, only to find out via text that we’re fired. That’s what supposedly happened to a man named Cody Hidalgo, according to a series of screenshots shared by podcast host Chris Caesar on Twitter.
The images show a goofy meme on Facebook, an updated post in which Hidalgo says he was fired for it, and then the text message receipts between himself and a higher-up named Andy.

The meme is of the muppet Elmo sitting on a toilet with the words, “Boss makes a dollar, I make a dime, that’s why I poop on company time.” It’s pretty stupid and references poop, so I love it!

Then Hidalgo posted, “I legit got fired for this…” which makes the whole thing a lot more serious.

He shared a text convo with the infamous Andy, who comes in hot.
“We don’t make a dollar when your [sic] shitting all the time. Why don’t you stay home and do your sh*tting. I don’t like to play your bullshit games. Maybe theres a company out there that would put up with your games cause i won’t. Good luck!” Andy writes.
“What are you talking about?” Hidalgo pretty reasonably reponds.
“Look on your Facebook page do you thing[sic] don’t get around?” asks Andy. I don’t think Andy gets around, because if he did, he’d have other stuff to worry about.

Hidalgo asks why Andy is firing him over a meme, to no response. He finishes sadly, “It’s a meme Andy why are you doing all of this over a meme.”
People responding to Caesar are pretty horrified by the whole interaction because it’s so ridiculous.
Lawsuit.
also, "they" won't "make a dollar" when they spend all day hounding employees online anyway.

The company Hidalgo formerly worked for has been identified as Roman Stone Works in Detroit, MI, and they’re getting some pretty insane reviews on their Facebook page. Andy is public enemy number one. You don’t come for people’s jobs over harmless memes and you DEFINITELY don’t try to mess up someone’s poop schedule::

Fight the power! Poop at will! Seize the memes!
