Gigi Hadid has a lot of influence on the world, somehow. She has almost 50 million followers on Instagram and travels all over the world, modeling, vacationing, posing in pictures for brands. It’s hard to tell from looking at her social media when she is doing each one of those things, because they kind of look the same.
A recent post was apparently a picture of Gigi Hadid on vacation on the island of Mykonos in Greece. She looks great, but don’t be fooled—she was having a miserable time. Hadid claims she was robbed while visiting the small island, and warned her followers not to visit. She’s like the anti-influencer now.
Mykonos film in.
PS(A). Don’t let insta fool u. Got robbed. Never going back lol. Wouldn’t recommend. Spend your money elsewhere
The response to Hadid’s claim has been intense. Mykonos is a pretty small place and it depends on tourism for much of its economy. Commenters were pissed that she may have discouraged people from visiting a beautiful place, saying that people get robbed all over the world. (Hadid is from New York, an incredible city where you could get mugged in broad daylight. Does that mean people shouldn’t go there?)
Hadid responded to her haters in another comment, saying she was one of 30 houses that were hit in the same crime spree. According to her, some people were robbed at gunpoint and the local law enforcement wasn’t equipped to deal with the issue. Hadid says that the police station was closed when the robberies happened and most people wouldn’t even have access to law enforcement—she just has that privilege.
Hadid added that if someone had told her about the limits of the long arm of the law in Mykonos she wouldn’t have gone, and she thinks people should be warned. Finally, she plans to keep posting pictures of her damn vacation! Which she did:
I guess her camera didn’t get stolen.
