Republicans and healthcare are two words that just don’t seem to fit together; like water and oil they just don’t mix.
After all, Republicans fought tooth and nail to block and water down Obama’s signature healthcare reform, the Affordable Care Act (also known as Obamacare), when he was in office and have been busily dismantling it ever since regaining power.
It’s easier to break something than to fix it and when it comes to improving the abject state of the American healthcare system the GOP don’t seem to have any answers. In fact, despite promising a new solution Trump and his party are now kicking the can down the road, claiming that they’ll have a “really great” plan to fix healthcare ready for a vote after the 2020 election.
While healthcare is quite literally a life or death issue for millions of Americans it seems the GOP is taking their time.
Everybody agrees that ObamaCare doesn’t work. Premiums & deductibles are far too high – Really bad HealthCare! Even the Dems want to replace it, but with Medicare for all, which would cause 180 million Americans to lose their beloved private health insurance. The Republicans…..

….are developing a really great HealthCare Plan with far lower premiums (cost) & deductibles than ObamaCare. In other words it will be far less expensive & much more usable than ObamaCare. Vote will be taken right after the Election when Republicans hold the Senate & win……
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 2, 2019
….back the House. It will be truly great HealthCare that will work for America. Also, Republicans will always support Pre-Existing Conditions. The Republican Party will be known as the Party of Great HealtCare. Meantime, the USA is doing better than ever & is respected again!

They’ve even got jokes! When Trump’s healthcare reform delay was challenged Senator John Cornyn quipped that, oh well, “In the end we’re all going to die, I hate to tell you.”
"In the end we're all going to die, I hate to tell you. Don't dwell on it though!" Sen Cornyn tells @burgessev after Burgess asserts that Trump's new health care timeline is a "worst case scenario"

This was, of course, the Republican senator’s idea of a joke but somehow the uninsured masses on Twitter weren’t laughing.
(Cornyn was joking, not revealing the GOP health care plan, in case that is not obvious)
— Erica Werner (@ericawerner) April 2, 2019
Ohhh cool bro! We are all going to die So healthcare is totally NBD. I had no idea – thanks Cornyn!
— Jules (@juleqt2) April 2, 2019
That's actually not a bad summary of the Republican health care plan: "In the end, we're all going to die."
— Ellis Weiner (@EllisWeiner) April 2, 2019
When I hear this, I hear “survival of the fittest.” No health insurance. Too bad.
— cinda amen (@wedonotstrut) April 2, 2019
In that case, let's get rid of hospitals, doctors, nurses, everything.
— Chelsea Hansing (@ChelseaHansing) April 2, 2019
In that case, might as well stop seeking preventive healthcare.
— Karen Holupka (@KarenHolupka) April 2, 2019
Then he won’t mind if we get rid of his health insurance and any medical care.
— Chris Kelley (@greatwetshart) April 2, 2019
Cornyn is welcome to go first.
— Devin Nunes' immigrant ancestors (@LarryWest42) April 2, 2019
And then we all turn into zombies and someone makes a TV show about it.
— Jimmy Fitzgerald (@JimFitzgerald67) April 2, 2019
I see the Republican party is still refining their messaging around becoming the party of Great Healthcare!

Republicans have been out to block or kill Obamacare for so long that no one believes they are capable or even interested in replacing it.
There is no GOP plan and there will be no GOP plan. https://t.co/GVVSYxFxb4
— Alan Johnson (@ohioaj) April 2, 2019
.@realDonaldTrump @SenateGOP @HouseGOP Have NO HEALTH CARE PLAN to replace the ACA. They never have, they never will. Their "health care" plan consists of delay delay delay until we pass away. They are LIARS and CON ARTISTS, Period. https://t.co/EyHJLZtqvl
— Greytdog (@Greytdog) April 2, 2019
This joke is no longer funny. The @GOP wants to steal your healthcare, plain & simple. They continue to lie about ‘having a plan’ when really the plan is to leave you and your family high and dry. https://t.co/MTckNhcFP5
— Robin Kelly (@RepRobinKelly) April 2, 2019
Trump’s only health care “plan” is to throw 21 million Americans off their insurance. End of story. https://t.co/P4KjG4PYIb
