Marvel Fans Drag Jennifer Aniston For Dissing MCU

Jennifer Aniston threw shade at Marvel films in a new interview with Variety and while she probably didn’t intend to offend anyone, Marvel fans were quick to drag her right back.

Aniston has always been and will always be known best as Rachel Green from the incredibly popular TV sitcom Friends. Given that it’s the most popular sitcom of all times and continues to make millions of dollars a year in syndication and merchandise fees, that’s not really a bad legacy to have.

Still, she’s always wanted to have an acting career outside of Friends, and she’s done pretty well, to be honest. She’s appeared in some pretty averagely funny films and is now about to start in the new Apple TV+ series The Morning Show alongside Reese Witherspoon. Her return to TV is a welcome one for many fans, and one Aniston said she felt somewhat obliged to make given the current state of cinema.

“It wasn’t until the last couple of years when these streaming services were just sort of exploding with this amount of quality that I actually started to think, ‘Wow, that’s better than what I just did,'” she said.

“And then you’re seeing what’s available out there and it’s just diminishing and diminishing in terms of, it’s big Marvel movies. Or things that I’m not just asked to do or really that interested in living in a green screen.”

While that’s fine that Aniston doesn’t want to take on big blockbuster roles, the fact that she dragged Marvel as being problematic to the movie industry didn’t go over well with Marvel fans who pointed out just how many terrible (and financially unsuccessful) films Aniston has actually been in.

Of course, Aniston probably made the Marvel comment as an aside and didn’t actually mean anything by it. She may even enjoy Marvel movies! Either way, not everyone was mad at her for her comments and some even agreed.

End of story? Don’t come for Marvel, Jennifer Aniston.
