2nd Lady Karen Pence Is Teaching At A School That Bans LGBTQ Kids And Teachers And People Are Pissed

Second Lady Karen Pence, the wife of Vice President Mike Pence, started teaching art at a private school in North Virginia this week. Only, according to a “parent agreement” posted online, it turns out that the school, Immanuel Christian School, doesn’t allow students who participate in or condone homosexuality.

According to HuffPost, the school’s 2018 employment application also makes any job candidates sign a pledge saying that won’t participate in homosexual activity. Job applicants are also required to adhere to the idea of the “unique roles of male and female.”

The application states that the school believes that “marriage unites one man and one woman” and that “a wife is commanded to submit to her husband as the church submits to Christ.” It also asks any potential employees to explain their view of the “creation/evolution debate.” Wow, this is quite an application.

As for that “parent agreement,” it asks that parents adhere to a “biblical morality” policy, meaning that parents must acknowledge the sanctity of marriage as being just for heterosexuals.

Karen Pence (a.k.a. “Mother”) who will be teaching at the school twice a week until May. A spokesperson for the Second Lady told HuffPost that Mrs. Pence had previously taught at the school for 12 years. The couple’s daughter, Charlotte, also attended the school, as per the school’s website.

USA Today reports that the Second Lady gave a statement saying, “I am excited to be back in the classroom and doing what I love to do. I have missed teaching art.” Luckily, she hasn’t had to take off any time from disapproving of homosexuals.

In a statement to HuffPost, JoDee Winterhof, senior vice president for policy and political affairs at the Human Rights Campaign, said:

“Why not teach at a school that welcomes everyone, instead of choosing one that won’t serve LGBTQ kids, kids of LGBTQ parents? The Pences never seem to miss an opportunity to show their public service only extends to some.”

Obviously, Mrs. Pence’s decision to work at such a school has gotten her a lot of criticism.

Even God weighed in, and He was not impressed.
