Crowd Confronts MAGA Troll Who Showed Up To New Zealand Mosque Vigil

In a video that’s gone viral, a Canadian student shows up to a vigil for the victims of the New Zealand mosque massacre wearing a red “Make American Great Again” hat. The student has been accused of purposely disrupting the vigil, and is asked in no uncertain terms by other mourners to leave.

The vigil was being held at Toronto’s York University on Monday, just days after the Christchurch attack that took the lives of 50 people and injured 50 more. The MAGA hat is especially disrespectful given that the shooter in the attacks had written a manifesto in which he praised Trump as “a symbol of renewed white identity and common purpose.”

A woman who was at the vigil said the student wearing the MAGA hat showed up near the end and “caused a scene,” according to Complex.

York University student @raneemayoub, who took one of the videos, shared that the student was saying that the vigil was “meaningless” right before she started recording.

On Twitter, @raneemayoub wrote a bit more about the incident.

The footage shows a number of students confronting the MAGA hat-wearing teen. One young woman can be heard saying sternly, “These people don’t owe you an explanation. You just need to leave.” Another student says, “There was a f**king massacre andyou’re wearing a symbol of racism. Get the f**k out.” Several people yell “Get out!” and one starts to chant “Shame” a la Game of Thrones.

The man appears to smirk as he leaves. When he turns around, a woman runs behind him and grabs the MAGA hat off his head, while somebody else says, “Leave him, don’t touch him.”

Most people commenting on the video felt that it was reprehensible for the guy to show up wearing the MAGA hat.

One person guessed that the MAGA-hat wearing teen would end up as a guest on Fox News in no time.

Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
