’63red Safe’ works to help those seeking shelter from our ‘MAGAphobic’ culture by pointing out ‘safe spaces’—information for conservatives about which restaurants are welcoming to Trump supporters, and which they should avoid.
Scott Wallace, the app’s founder, told The Daily Beast that he is “trying to position it as an everyday ‘where can I go eat safely’ app.”
Users are able to rate these businesses based on a series of four questions, including whether or not they allow customers to carry concealed firearms.
The criteria read:
“Answer four quick questions about the business, and let fellow conservatives know if it’s safe for them:
Does this business serve persons of every political belief?
Will this business protect its customers if they are attacked for political reasons?
Does this business allow legal concealed carry under this state’s laws?
Does this business avoid politics in its ads and social media postings?”
Wallace told The Daily Beast he is confident that the app will continue to gain traction as the 2020 election nears, because that’s when more MAGA supporters will come under attack by what he calls “socialist goon squads,” and when “businesses will become more interested in protecting their customers over their politics.”

The publication compared 63red Safe to the ‘Green Book’ guide that listed establishments safe for African-American travelers in the south from 1936 to 1966.
It also pointed out that while hate crimes have definitely seen an uptick during the Trump administration, they were essentially all “related to race, religion, sexual orientation, or ethnicity, not politics.”
As such, it’s difficult to feel bad for conservatives touting rabid support for a president who readily voices his racism and misogyny, who dehumanizes immigrants, mocks the disabled, and frequently calls for violence against journalists. Who called Neo-Nazis “good people,” and whose daily bad faith arguments concerning every aspect of our country and its (non-white, non-cis, non-female) citizens have done nothing but tear the nation apart.
