Mike Pence Left Shocked When No One Claps For His Statement Encouraging War With Iran

While speaking at the “Peace and Security in the Middle East” conference in Poland last week, Mike Pence clearly misjudged the crowd while calling for aggression against Iran and was left with deafening silence when he paused for applause. Pence, clearly expecting some kind of reaction at all, is silent and still for a full two seconds before opening his mouth a but and visibly giving his head a little shake like he needs to rouse himself out of his shock.

The conference in Warsaw, Poland was sponsored by the U.S., ostensibly to discuss how to best promote peaceful resolutions to the various conflicts in the Middle East with allies. Pence, veering a bit from the goal of peace, asked allies to withdraw from the nuclear deal between the U.S and Iran and echoed sentiments from the early 2000s that were used to justify the war in Iraq.

“The time has come for our European partners to withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal and join with us as we bring the economic and diplomatic pressure to give the Iranian people the region and the world the peace, the security, and the freedom they deserve.”

Mike Pence:

This wasn’t the first time during the week that Mike Pence had been met with silence during a speech that clearly included a pause for clapping. Something similar happened at the Munich Security Conference when the Vice President offered the audience greetings from Donald Trump. The only difference was that this time, he may have not been expecting applause. During the excruciatingly awkward pause, he simply stares down at his notes while everyone waits for crickets to start chirping.

It’s not always easy delivering messages that everybody hates.

Meanwhile, Twitter users, particularly those from Indiana, are enjoying the generous helpings of that shameful joy.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mike Pence during this difficult time.
