Panicked Trump Has Meltdown After Michael Cohen Makes Plea Deal With FBI

Donald Trump’s one-time associate, journalist-bullier, and so-called “personal lawyer” Michael Cohen is back in the news and it has the president sweating.

Cohen appeared before a federal judge on Thursday and plead guilty to lying to Congress about the details of Donald Trump’s negotiations with Russia regarding the possible construction of a Trump Tower in Moscow in 2016 during the presidential election.

According to Chron:

Cohen told the judge he lied about the timing of the negotiations, his communications with people in the company and in Russia about the deal, and other details to be loyal to Trump and consistent with Trump’s “political messaging.” Cohen and prosecutors referred to Trump as “individual one” throughout Thursday’s proceedings and said he lied “to be loyal to Individual One.”

Cohen admitted to misleading Congress about how long the negotiations with Russia went on. Apparently they continued at least until July of 2016 whereas Cohen had claimed the contacts ended in the spring before the Iowa caucus.

Trump responded in typical Trumpian fashion with ad hominem attacks about strength, energy, and durability calling Cohen “a weak person” twice in one of his patented helicopter-side press conferences.

This isn’t the first time Cohen has turned on Trump after agreeing to cooperate with prosecutors in the Mueller probe.

Lately the man who was once seen as the ultimate Trump loyalist, who would never flip, has been flipping faster than stale pancake.

The news about ongoing contacts between Russia and the Trump camp will only add fuel to the fire of speculation that Trump’s campaign colluded with Russia to get damaging information on his political opponents during the campaign and that there may have been a financial quid-pro-quo in play.

After the news of Cohen’s most recent reveal surfaced Trump also quickly announced he was cancelling a planned meeting with Vladimir Putin at the G-20 summit in Argentina . Trump claimed on Twitter that this was because of “ships and sailors” and not because of how it would look to have his former associate spilling details about his Russia ties while meeting with his baby Vladdy in the homeland of the tango.

…Of course Trump being Trump he quickly contradicted himself when talking to reporters and said that he probably would be meeting with Putin after all, saying “I think it’s a very good time to have the meeting.”
