Former House Speaker and current Eddie Munster-impersonator Paul Ryan may be gone but he is not forgotten…mainly because he keeps popping up to say things about leaders people are actually interested in like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Speaking at an event in his hometown of Janesville, WI Ryan said that before he left office he offered the incoming freshman Congresswoman a “few little tips” on the gig.
According to the Huffington Post, Ryan’s advice fell on deaf ears that probably had much better things to do:
“I talked to her, AOC, everybody calls her AOC. She’s the youngest person now there and I gave her just a few little tips on just being a good member of Congress, new,” explained Ryan, who was elected to the House when he was 28.
“I don’t think she really listened to a thing I said,” the former vice presidential candidate added with a laugh. He said he had advised Ocasio-Cortez to “take it easy, just watch things for a while, don’t ruffle, you know, see how it works first.”
Who could blame AOC, whose passionate, take-no-prisoners approach has won her legions of supporters, for ignoring political advice from a man who will be best remembered for a failed Vice Presidential bid, his passionate love of tax cuts, and for enabling Donald Trump at every turn before meekly fleeing Washington?
I bet Paul Ryan’s advice to AOC was to smile more.

Ocasio-Cortez is definitely not listening to the “don’t ruffle” bit of Ryan’s advice as the Congresswoman’s vocal support for sweeping programs like the Green New Deal has conservatives feathers so ruffled that they regularly appear to be losing their minds.

As for Paul Ryan, once he’s done on the conservative lecture circuit and gets bored of working his core and working for Fox News expect him to turn up again on some terrible ticket running for an office he has no business holding.
These guys are like bad pennies sticky with bad ideas.
Huh weird. Is it possible she *didnt* want to retire a wildly unpopular failure who has actively made income inequality in America worse? https://t.co/1vtiOt0XqI

"Why doesn't she pay attention to me!" is the barely disguised subtext of 90% of conservative commentary on AOC. https://t.co/XFjwZg73VA
