Conservatives were very offended by a recent speech given by Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez about their resistance to her Green New Deal. One bit in particular was identified by the AOC herself as being particularly enraging to those on the right.

In the short clip originally posted by anti-fraud and corruption activist Nicolas Wilson, Ocasio-Cortez simply points out that if conservatives don’t like any aspect of the Green New Deal, they’re welcome to come up with their own ideas.
“You try. You do it,” she says. “‘Cause you’re not. ‘Cause you’re not. So, until you do it, I’m the boss.”
AOC went on to quote from Teddy Roosevelt’s Man in the Arena — a segment of his Citizenship in a Republic speech — for the rest of her Twitter thread.

The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause;who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly o that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.”

Conservatives have continues to be nay-sayers (when they’re not outright deniers) on the subject of fighting climate change, despite the fact that the science shows doing nothing to be the financially irresponsible path. A recently released comprehensive study called the National Climate Assessment shows that no matter what the climate change scenario, the U.S. stands to lose multiple billions of dollars annually if nothing is done.
Unfortunately, the right would rather yell at Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter than do anything about it. And they’re yelling today. Apparently being told to act rather than just criticize really gets under their skin.
