On Monday, Showtime revealed that Sacha Baron Cohen, he of Borat “My Wife” fame, was returning to TV with a new seven-episode comedy/reality series called Who Is America? set to debut on Sunday. Now, you’re probably wondering, who could Sacha Baron Cohen even trick into being on his show at this point in time, as famous as he and his pranks are?
According to the New York Times, the series will be much like Cohen’s earlier shows, combining satire and reporting, with host Cohen (in disguise) tearing apart unsuspecting subjects.
Even Donald Trump tweeted in 2012 that he never falls for scams, and that he immediately walked out of an Ali G interview. So who on Earth would get caught being on yet another Cohen show?
I never fall for scams. I am the only person who immediately walked out of my ‘Ali G’ interview

We’ve got two words for you — Dick Cheney, who Cohen managed to trick into signing a “waterboarding kit.” (A WATERBOARDING KIT.)
And here are two more words: former Alaskan Governor Sarah “I can see Russia from my house” Palin. Okay, that’s more than two words, but you get the point.
Shocking, right? That someone as smart and astute as Palin would get tricked by a comedian. Or maybe not so shocking at all. Maybe not even shocking one little bit.
Yup – we were duped. Ya’ got me, Sacha. Feel better now? I join a long list of American public personalities who have…
In a lengthy Facebook post, Palin revealed she flew to Washington, D.C. to meet with someone whom she was told was a disabled US war veteran, but who turned out to be Cohen in a wheelchair. Womp womp.
This “legit opportunity” to honor American Vets and contribute to a “legit Showtime historical documentary” was requested of me via a speakers bureau. For my interview, my daughter and I were asked to travel across the country where Cohen (I presume) had heavily disguised himself as a disabled US Veteran, fake wheelchair and all.
Out of respect for what I was led to believe would be a thoughtful discussion with someone who had served in uniform, I sat through a long “interview” full of Hollywoodism’s disrespect and sarcasm – but finally had enough and literally, physically removed my mic and walked out, much to Cohen’s chagrin.
Here is my challenge, shallow Sacha boy: go ahead – air the footage. Experience tells us it will be heavily edited, not pretty, and intended to humiliate. The challenge is to Cohen, CBS and Showtime: donate all proceeds to a charitable group that actually respects and supports American Vets. Mock politicians and innocent public personalities all you want, if that lets you sleep at night, but HOW DARE YOU mock those who have fought and served our country.
Palin challenged Cohen and Showtime to donate the proceeds from the show to a veterans group.
The first episode of Who Is America? will air Sunday at 9PM CST on Showtime. Are you going to check it out?
