Carell, who is an executive producer, co-creator, and star of the series, is expected to net more than the currently-held record of $1 million per episode. The show itself is described as a workplace comedy about the team of people tasked with creating Space Force, and according to The Hollywood Reporter, the idea was indeed sparked by Trump’s June order tasking the Pentagon with creating the new military branch.
To the delight of The Office fans everywhere, Netflix dropped a teaser for the new show on Wednesday.
The announcement included text projected over footage of the Earth from space, set to the theme from 2001: A Space Odyssey. It reads:
“On June 18, 2018, the federal government announced the creation of a 6th major division of the United States Armed Forces. The goal of the new branch is ‘to defend satellites from attack’ and ‘perform other space-related tasks’…Or something. This is the story of the men and women who have to figure it out.”

We don’t have a launch date or episode count yet because scripts have yet to be written. But fans are already stoked at the prospect of more Steve Carrell gifs in the world.
At this rate, our eyeballs will probably get a glimpse of Space Force the television show before Space Force the military branch.
