President Donald Trump is obsessed with his wall, that steel or concrete structure that he so wants to build at the U.S. southern border. He has harped on and on about how this wall will supposedly keep us safe because no one will be about to get over it or around it.
Which is why this clip from 2004 of Donald Trump giving a commencement speech unearthed by The Daily Show is so hilarious. In it, Donald Trump tells the students that they should “never, ever” let a concrete wall get in their way.
Oh man, once Trump gets his wall he better hope no one shows Mexico this old video we found. pic.twitter.com/FtzeGlmecz— The Daily Show (@TheDailyShow) January 10, 2019
In the speech, Trump says, “Never, ever give up. Don’t give up. Don’t allow it to happen. If there’s a concrete wall in front of you, go through it, go over it, go around it. But get to the other side of that wall.”
Trevor Noah, host of The Daily Show, tweeted the clip and wrote, “Oh man, once Trump gets his wall he better hope no one shows Mexico this old video we found.”
People on Twitter also loved the irony of the clip.
