There’s a lot to unpack from Donald Trump’s two-hour rant at CPAC Saturday. It was even less coherent than usual and has been likened to a fever dream, but based on how much the President was sweating, he may actually be sick. You know, more than usual.
One of the more absurd things he said during the talkathon was that migrant mothers give their daughters “massive amounts of birth control pills” just before or during their journey to the U.S. because they expect said daughters to be raped on the way here. Aside from the fact that this is racist fearmongering and exploitation of the horrors of rape that women have to spend their lives fearing (whether they’re already in the U.S. or not) and the other fact that many of the migrant women are putting themselves through hell to escape rape in the home countries, that is just not how birth control pills work.
TRUMP: "Mothers who love their daughters give them massive amounts of birth control pills, because they know their daughters are going to be raped on the way up to our southern border. Think of that. True story told to me by the Border Patrol. Think of how evil that is." pic.twitter.com/wVrBHpEbWc

“Mothers who love their daughters give them massive amounts of birth control pills, because they know their daughters are going to be raped on the way up to our southern border.”
“True story,” he says. Literally. Because Trump thinks that somehow makes what he says more credible.
Here’s the thing about birth control pills. Taking a higher dose, to a point, can help prevent pregnancy in the case that someone has unprotected sex and had not been taking birth control pills regularly beforehand. This is what the Plan B “morning after” pills are. However, if you’re planning ahead and have “massive amounts” of birth control pills, the way to do it is to simply take one pill per day like you’re supposed to. You can’t just pour the pills into your mouth like a stoner eating an entire bag of Skittles at once and expect to be covered for the month.
Also, don’t do that with birth control pills, because you’re likely to give yourself a stroke from such an intense boost of estrogen.
Even taking two pills per day is not recommended, and also doesn’t make the birth control pill work any better. The pill is already 99% effective if you consistently take one per day. This is birth control pill 101.
But why would Trump need to know anything about that, right?
Either way, those who need to know how birth control pills work have some words for him
He thinks birth control works like the speed he snorts https://t.co/3SNwQV2Jih

Did he overdose on birth control pills before giving this speech??
— Corrine O (@CorrineOConnell) March 2, 2019
Politicians sometimes snort massive amounts of stimulants so they can tell crazy lies while projecting their sins and rape underage females. True story. Oh, wait, that is true. Never mind.

I have so many questions. Are they taking them all at once? Are they like in “skittle”bowls like the opioid pills?
— Bee Gutjahr (@pixiemenace) March 2, 2019
Because “massive amounts” of birth control pills make extra, extra sure you won’t get pregnant. They never cause fatal blood clots. And I’m sure impoverished families fleeing for their lives have no problem getting large stashes of oral contraceptives.

There is so much wrong with this statement that it's hard to know where to begin, but honestly, massive amounts?
— Kimberley McLean (@skirmley) March 2, 2019
The only massive amounts of pills he knows about are the ones he downs before he speaks. pic.twitter.com/PbJlbOqQ6P

Sigh. What movie did he get this one from?

I was going to say mother’s whose daughters get detained by ICE.

If anybody else talked like this they would be on a 48 hour hold. #25thAmendmentNow

Ok but lmao no. If they are allowed to seek asylum like they are trying for, this is less likely. If they are denied by YOUR CLOSED BORDER IDEA, then they may try to choose an illegal route where traffickers may take advantage of them BECAUSE OF TRUMP POLICY.

Way too much nuance here for him to grasp
— D (@danielle2u) March 3, 2019
That must account for the truckloads of drugs they keep finding at the border, it's really birth control pills.
— Cherokee44 (@Cherokee44) March 2, 2019
Wait, what? These refugees are fleeing countries that are that generous with b/c? Because here in the US my insurance doles them out like every pack is their last one.
— Susan Wells Hart (@swh711) March 3, 2019
But how did they get the pills if he’s closed down all the Planned Parenthood’s??? #cheetoinchief

By "southern border", he means himself, right?
— Sasha Lynn Cohen (@dangertheatre) March 3, 2019
Remember, ladies. Take your massive amounts of birth control before going within 50 miles of Trump or any of his sexual predator buddies.
