Trump Slams Democrats For Not Condemning Anti-Semitism, But Twitter’s Got Receipts

President Trump on Wednesday called House Democrats “shameful” after members waffled over officially rebuking Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota for making comments that were widely perceived and condemned as anti-Semitic.

According to the Washington Post, Democrats held a closed-door session in which they debated whether to pass a resolution condemning religious hatred, a move prompted by Omar’s latest comments last week that pro-Israel groups and politicians are pushing for “allegiance to a foreign country.”

In a closed-door session, Democrats protested plans to vote this week on a resolution condemning religious hatred, a measure prompted by Omar’s comments last week that pro-Israel groups have “allegiance to a foreign country.”

Trump tweeted a condemnation of House Democrats as they were debating whether or not to vote on the resolution, writing: “It is shameful that House Democrats won’t take a stronger stand against Anti-Semitism in their conference, Anti-Semitism has fueled atrocities throughout history and it’s inconceivable they will not act to condemn it!”

The president’s accusation resulted in an eruption of Twitter replies calling Trump hypocritical and accusing him of scapegoating Omar.
