Watch Michelle Wolf Own Meghan McCain on ‘The View’ For Her Correspondents’ Dinner Joke

Michelle Wolf’s White House Correspondent’s Dinner appearance took place well over three weeks ago (doesn’t it feel like three years, though?), but conservatives are still butthurt about it. We know this, because Wolf appeared on “The View” Wednesday and cohost Meghan McCain suggested Wolf had ruined the dinner, calling it “a big gift to Trump supporters.”

In case you forgot, much of the conservative criticism concerning Wolf’s speech had to do with the comedian’s comparison of press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders to The Handmaid’s Tale‘s Aunt Lydia. Wolf joked that The Huck used the ashes of burned facts to create her signature “smokey eye” look, causing Republicans to — for the first time during Trump’s administration — take offense to the fact that a professional woman was being slammed for her appearance, even though she actually wasn’t at all.

To those who did take offense Wolf replied, “I mean, the people that did, I just was, like, ‘Oh, I thought you were smarter,’” said the comedian. “I think you have something to say about her looks — I’m fine with how she looks.”

McCain then asked Wolf about the future of the WHCD. “I actually said that I thought your stand-up routine was a gift to the Trump administration in that liberals were criticizing you as well,” said The View cohost to Wolf. “The association is now saying that it’s considering having no comedians whatsoever in the future. How would you feel if you killed another comedian’s job?”

Wolf hesitated, looking at McCain as though trying to figure out whether she was for real. Deciding she was, Wolf replied, “I mean, I don’t care. It’s not, like, a great job. I mean, it’s — I think everyone that has ever done it has been, like, ‘Great, now I don’t have to do it again.”

She continued, “The whole time I called it a homework assignment. But it being, like, a gift to Trump, I don’t think it was a gift to Trump any more than every single news show, and I put that in quotes, ‘news,’ is a gift to Trump.”

Atta girl!
